The Sydney FAME Festival held in July 2015
The Sydney FAME Festival held from July 5th to 12th, 2015 was a resounding success! The venue for the Festival was Dunmore Lang College, one of the residential colleges adjacent to Macquarie University in North Ryde. The conductor of the Festival Orchestra was Werner Ruecker, who currently conducts the Melbourne Mandolin Orchestra and who is the son of the late Josef Ruecker, one of the founders of the Melbourne Mandolin Orchestra.
The public concert of the Sydney FAME Festival Orchestra was held in the Gillian Moore Centre for Performing Arts and was well attended. |
During the week of the Festival two in-house concerts were held, one of which included a performance by Rondanihan, a Canberra-based youth orchestra of plucked instruments playing Phillipino music. There were jam sessions and outings to enliven players tired after long rehearsal sessions. Those who attended had a fabulous time and enjoyed the music making.
